Countdown never replied to the email we sent them on Tuesday afternoon. So on Friday Hannah rung them and talked to the store manager who said that they had to ask the general supervisor and that they would call her back with the result within the hour. They never rang her back. On Saturday morning we rang them again to follow up on our request and the manager informed us that we weren't allowed to film in the store at all.
This threw a major spanner in our plans of filming over the weekend with the equipment we had borrowed from the Toystore.
We rang New World (who was our back-up) to see if we could film there instead. Unfortunately their store manager was not at work so we couldn't get permission to film in their store either.
Hence - THE DEBACLE!
We now had a decision to make; whether to stick with our supermarket idea and hope that the New World manager would let us film there over the week (Week 3), or to change our idea to something we could film the bulk of on Sunday to make the most of the time we had with the equipment we had borrowed.
