Narrative

We have decided to do three videos; one on reducing water wastage when brushing your teeth, one on reducing water wastage when showering, and one on reducing water wastage when washing clothes. We think that doing three small videos will give us more video content to integrate with our website which will therefore make our website more interactive and interesting for the viewer.

We want our short films to make the audience feel weird, uncomfortable, and guilty. We will create an eerie, unsettling atmosphere through the use of close up and extreme close up shots, and text.


Video 1: Showering

Text appears on shots to inform the viewer of key points/shocking figures about water wastage when showering and how to prevent/lessen it.
Use of close ups and extreme close ups such as water dripping down shower glass, water dripping down skin, water going down shower drain, feet in the shower, hand running through wet hair, shampooing hair, loofa texture, loofa on skin, shaving legs, body soap coming out of dispenser, soap lather splatter on shower glass, water coming out of shower head, wet hair on skin, wet hair dripping/getting wrung out etc.
Climatic Point: Mid to close shot of face behind steamed up glass as hand wipes the steam away + direct eye contact with camera.
Final shot: Slow zoom out from empty shower, shower head slowly dripping.
Soundtrack: One song playing continuously, plus select ambient noises such as water dripping, shower running, shampoo bubbling, water gurgling down shower drain, razor scraping etc.


Video 2: Washing Clothes

Text appears on shots to inform the viewer of key points/shocking figures about water wastage when using a washing machine and how to prevent/lessen it.
Use of close ups and extreme close ups such as fabric texture, washing powder, pouring washing powder, buttons on washing machine, washing machine lights lighting up, textures inside washing machine, clothing getting piled into washing machine, finger pressing washing machine buttons etc.
Climatic Point: Mid to close shot of washing machine lid being put down revealing person standing staring into the camera.
Final shot: Slow zoom out from the running washing machine.
Soundtrack: One song playing continuously, plus select ambient noises such as washing machine beeping as buttons are pressed, sound of the washing machine running etc

Video 3: Brushing Teeth

Text appears on shots to inform the viewer of key points/shocking figures about water wastage when brushing teeth and how to prevent/lessen it.
Use of close ups and extreme close ups such as toothpaste tube, toothbrush lying on counter, toothpaste and brush in drawer, tap running, water swirling down drain, toothpaste being washed down drain, toothbrush brushing teeth, fingers holding toothbrush, turning tap on etc.
Climatic Point: Mid to close shot of person looking in mirror and staring into the camera via reflection.
Final shot: Slow zoom out from empty bathroom.
Soundtrack: One song playing continuously, plus select ambient noises such as brushing teeth, tap running, click of cap on toothpaste, dripping water, spitting noises, bubbles etc
